About and methodology
This site is an English-language overview of the dairy plants in Belarus: who they are, where they are, who owns them and what they make. Every fact on the site links to the source it comes from. Where we could not confirm something, the site says “Not known” rather than guess.
Coverage today
26 companies, backed by 73 listed sources, last checked 2026-10-31.
- 6 of 26 ownership confirmed
- 15 of 26 town known
- 11 of 26 website confirmed
- 7 of 26 capacity known
No company is listed yet for: Minsk. This can mean that no company there processes raw milk, or that we have not found one yet.
What the site covers
- Included: companies registered in Belarus that industrially process raw milk into dairy products — milk processing plants, cheese and butter plants, milk-powder plants, and ice-cream or baby-food makers that process raw milk themselves.
- One record per company. Belarusian dairy companies have merged into a small number of large groups. Plants in other towns that now belong to a company are its branches and are part of that company's record, not separate entries.
- Not included (for now): farms and agricultural companies that make some dairy products on site, traders and distributors, and companies that only repack or re-process bought-in dairy products (for example, processed cheese made from purchased cheese).
How the data is collected
Sources, roughly from most to least preferred:
- The company's or its parent company's own website, including its published annual reports.
- Official registers and government bodies, including regional state holdings and the national accreditation registry.
- Stock exchange and securities disclosures.
- Reputable news agencies and newspapers, for facts they report directly.
Wikipedia, business directories, forums and AI-generated text are never used as sources; at most they help find a real source. When two acceptable sources disagree, the higher one in this list is preferred. Each plant page shows which source supports which fact, and when it was read.
Some official registers and company websites cannot be reached from outside Belarus. That is the main reason many facts — especially ownership — are still shown as “Not known”.
What the terms mean
Ownership
- state — the state owns more than 50% of the company's shares.
- mixed — the state owns more than 0% and at most 50%.
- private — a source confirms that the state owns no shares.
- Not known — no source settles it. Finding no evidence of state shares is not enough to call a company private.
“The state” adds together the national government, regional and local authorities, and companies that are themselves state-owned. Evidence is either a document with share percentages (such as an annual report) or a plain statement from an acceptable source that settles the category by itself, such as “state-owned”. Vague wording such as “with state participation” is not enough. Where a figure is old (for example, from before a merger), the source's description on the plant page says so.
Capacity and output
- Capacity is how much raw milk a company can process, in tonnes per day or per year, as the source states it. Figures are never converted, and amounts actually processed are not treated as capacity.
- Output is finished products for a given year (for example, tonnes of cheese).
Products
Products are grouped into a fixed list of categories. A company is listed with a category only if a source says it makes that kind of product.
- Drinking milk
- Cream
- Fermented milk products
- Curd (tvorog) and curd products
- Cheese
- Butter
- Milk powder
- Whey and whey products
- Condensed milk
- Ice cream
- Infant and baby dairy products
- Casein and caseinates
Names and places
If a company uses its own English name (on its website, packaging or export materials), that name is used. Otherwise the name is romanized: from the company's Belarusian name with the official Belarusian system, or — if no Belarusian name is sourced — from its Russian name with the BGN/PCGN system (which is why some names read like “Molochnyy Mir”). Each plant page says which method was used and shows the local name as registered.
Regions and towns use their conventional English spellings, with the official Belarusian romanization shown alongside where it differs:
| Region | Belarusian romanization | Belarusian | Russian |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brest Region | Brest | Брэсцкая вобласць | Брестская область |
| Vitebsk Region | Viciebsk | Віцебская вобласць | Витебская область |
| Gomel Region | Homieĺ | Гомельская вобласць | Гомельская область |
| Grodno Region | Hrodna | Гродзенская вобласць | Гродненская область |
| Minsk Region | Minsk | Мінская вобласць | Минская область |
| Mogilev Region | Mahilioŭ | Магілёўская вобласць | Могилёвская область |
| Minsk | Minsk | горад Мінск | город Минск |
Pictures
The landscapes with dairy buildings on this site are generated illustrations, not photos of the real plants. Each company gets its own picture so the pages are easier to tell apart. They will be replaced by real photos where companies provide them with permission to publish.

The data is checked automatically before every update of the site, but it is not yet complete and can contain mistakes. A correction can only be made when it is backed by a source that meets the rules above.
